Anonymous asked: I love that you have your weight loss journey on your blog! How did you stay motivated, especially in the beginning? I've started many times but have always fallen out of it. I hate running but know that is the most accessible way of keeping fit.

Hey! Thank you for the note!

Goodness, staying motivated is hard! I still struggle with it daily. Honestly, I spent money. Meaning, I signed up for a race — 15k. That was my first race. I didn’t want to waste my money, nor did I want to be last. I set a goal of running it in less than 1.5 hours and beat my goal by quite a few minutes!

I started to enjoy running, it relieves stress and allow for my “me” time. I did field hockey all 4 years of high school, and soccer from 5th-10th grade, but never enjoyed running just for the heck of it!

Also, a friend shared a motto per say on a twitter status: #fatdoesn’ttakeadayoff {fat doesn’t take a day off}. it’s true and helps get me going when other things don’t! And I find that I often regret not running, when I don’t.

Keep it up and you’ll feel so much better! Also, do it for you — no one else!

IT’S OFFICIAL.

the half marathon will be completed on December 8, 2012.

I’ll be crossing off something on my 20’s Project list and fulfilling my 2012 New Year’s Resolution!

it’s the first time i’ve actually had the urge to go running, in about two weeks.

the other times i’ve just forced myself.

it’s a great feeling and i hope it starts to make a regular appearance, again.

a year in the making.

if you told me this time last year, that i would have participated in five different races in one year, i would have laughed in your face. i am ever grateful for the ability to run. and i’m thankful for the motivation that i’ve received from family and friends, but also the motivation inside of myself that grew.

i didn’t like running, it’s a love/hate relationship with me. i love running because it makes me feel better; the feeling after a run is exhilarating — be it one mile or five miles. i hate running because i don’t have the motivation all of the time. i don’t always have the will to get myself out and off a chair to get outside. i love running because it relieves stress and it allows me to get outside and clear my head. i hate running because i’m not the fastest at it, but my God i love running because it’s pushed me so far and i’ve come a long ways from before! do you get the point?

running is amazing and if you have the ability to experience it, i would definitely recommend it {did i, megan, just say that?! — shocker} you will grow, you will discover yourself on the runs and you will find that motivation deep inside of you. but, goodness, do it for yourself, and no one else. do it because you strive to be healthy, mentally and physically.

i’m ever grateful for that journey of seeking motivation to come to where i am today. it’s been 13 months in the making, and i’m sure i’ve got plenty more ahead of me. there will be days where i don’t feel like running — like today, but i’m already dressed and about to head out the door. push through it & you’ll thank yourself in about thirty minutes.

i may or may not have cheated today.

i caved and got a cookie from panera.

plus side: it was free because of my points card.

ooops.

update.

well, it’s been a few weeks since i’ve updated you all about my weightless.

but i thought i’d share the news that i have officially been able to put on my old pair of jeans; i dropped a size! they are still a bit tight, but totally wearable {which i am so thankful i kept the four pairs of old jeans! i didn’t know when/if i’d be back in them, but GAP jeans are not one’s you like to give away!}

i thought i’d try them on before going to work out earlier and was surprised they pulled up past my lovely, God-given hips.

anyway, that’s the update & i hope you all are doing well! xo meg

Update: weight loss.

So, I recognize that it’s been a while since I have last updated. I was away on spring break & decided to not keep track of my weight there.

Here is an updated photo taken about five minutes ago.

I weigh the same amount as I did before leaving — which is amazing because of the amount of eating out & some alcohol that was involved. I didn’t run at all during break, instead did other activities such as biked every day, I kayaked, and a lot of walking.

I plan to start back up the exercise (I have run twice this week) that I was doing. Just thought I’d update you all & hope you’re all doing well! xoxo

monday: check-in.

Hey all,

So, I thought it would be appropriate/more convenient for me to do “Monday: Check-In” where I post an update for my weight loss journey.

I’ll do my best, but can’t guarantee I post every Monday. I’m going to try and be consistent and this will keep me accountable for losing weight.

Update: within the past week I have love 1.5 lbs.

Work out: M-W run between 1-4 miles + 35 minutes of abs by Gillian Michaels || Tr-F: off days [due to weather/taking it easy b/c of race] || Sat.: walk 2 miles || Sun.: RACE DAY : 5 miles. || Mon.: run 2.5 miles

Total loss: 6.5 lbs.

Happy Monday! -meg
