Something New!

Hey friends, do you ever lack motivation to run?

I just downloaded the Nike Running app on my phone and there’s this really neat thing where you can turn it on social and “compete” against people in their running! {I know I am super late on this discovery!}

I got a new running band for my iPhone and will be trying this app out in a few minutes — check it out & we can keep each other accountable!

Also, if you’re looking for a new running playlist check out my new one on Spotify “I Work Out” (link). It’s a very eclectic mix of music, but it works. And if you have any suggestions to add to it, let me know! I’m always open for new stuff.

Nothing like a little friendly competition!

Good Luck …

to all of those who are running in the Philadelphia Broad Street run, tomorrow! I have 17 friends doing it and doing it to stop Human Trafficking. They are running for 17 girls who have been successfully rescued from human trafficking by an organization called Zion Project.

One example is my friend Devon, she’s running for Espy —

image

Espy used to be left alone by her mother who is an alcoholic and goes to the disco to dance. She was forced to cook for herself and was often too afraid at night that she couldn’t sleep. One night her hut caught fire while she was cooking, and a neighbor had to come rescue her. People started telling her that because she was alone she would be stolen and used in a child sacrifice, so Espy started hanging out with other children in groups. But she says, they had bad habits. Esperanza looks down and traces the ground with her finger. Then she says, “Some boys would come in groups at night and would sleep with me and it would hurt so I would cry and would tell my mom but she would only beat me.” Espy begged her mother to come to Zion so she could be safe.

Espy, through the work of Zion Project, has been rescued and given hope in Jesus Christ. However, there are 27 million other victims of human trafficking who may not have had the opportunity to hear the name of Jesus and have not set their hope in Jesus Christ.

Devin will run for Espy, to give her a voice.

so, this happened last night — road trip & half marathon with some good friends!
so much truth.

Thanks for all of the input, I do wear tape on my knees from going to PT and do the stretches (along with regular stretching). I have had my shoes for about a year now, and they are definitely worn! Looking for something to replace them, for additional cushioning and support. I’ll take all the suggestions into consideration!

For the Runners:

hey friends! so I am on the look-out for new running shoes — I normally wear Saucony, but will take other suggestions to try on. I have tendonitis in both knees, so something with support, but also light weight. I run mainly on pavement (treadmill very rarely). And I do like fun colors.

I didn’t know if you all have tried new shoes recently? The Saucony Guide 6 got poor reviews so far, so I am looking into the Saucony Triumph 10.

I do have a limit of about $120 or so, but would love to find it for less than $100.

Any suggestions?

grasp.

I’m having a difficult time trying to grasp the idea that I’ll be running 13.1 miles (at one time) in about thirty-six hours. It’s tough. I’m excited — but the nervousness is taking over. I’m so stinkin’ nervous.

There’s a plus side to the course I’ll be completing Saturday morning — that it’s all flat. I’ve been training on hills and I am hoping this will be to my advantage. I have a goal time — it’s personal. I’m relying on the sheer strength of God to make it, to complete it, and to feel accomplished. For those who’ve been following me know that running doesn’t come easy, but I do it — I do it for me. Prayers would be appreciated, not only that I properly prepare my mind for this, but for the strength to complete it. You guys have been a fabulous support system, and a thank you is not nearly enough!

yes, yes I did just sign up for the Thanksgiving day 10k.

yes, that is sixteen days before my half.

i’m going to go ahead and just call myself nuts — mainly because I, Megan, would not normally do this. it’s the crazy me that’s typing to fill in the registration forms.

sweet mercy, help me.

that feeling.

do you ever have those moments where you just need to run? like put on your sneakers, put your favorite running playlist on and turn your iPod up, kind of run?

tonight, that happened. i wasn’t going to do it, but then i had that feeling. for those of you who run, know what i’m talking about. the feeling, it can be fleeting, where you must take advantage of it, or else it may be gone for the rest of the next day or so.

i haven’t had that feeling for about a week and a half, until the dry-spell finally broke.

and my God, it felt amazing.

granted it was only a three-miler, but it was fabulous. timing was perfect, it was the time in the evening where the sun just set, but it’s not quite dark yet. the timing where you can run past cars and feel invincible, and almost invisible (no worries, it was not dangerous. i was on a path at a park that i am also able to see cars drive past).

and the feeling of accomplishment, knowing i could have ignored that feeling, but didn’t.

gotta love that feeling.
